• User Preferences: Your card priority settings and interface preferences to personalize your experience.

We automatically collect certain information when you use our extension:

• User Identifier: A randomly generated UUID used to associate your cards and preferences with your browser installation.
• E-commerce Website Data: Limited information from supported e-commerce checkout pages (such as merchant names, product categories, and transaction amounts) to provide card recommendations.
• Transaction Context: Additional details about transactions including platform (web, mobile), redemption channel (online, in-store), booking platform (for travel-related purchases), and partner network information.
• Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our extension, including feature usage patterns and preferences.
• Device Information: Basic information about your browser and device, such as browser type, operating system, and screen size to optimize the user interface.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Extension Storage: Most of your card data, transactions, preferences, and user ID are stored locally using Chrome's storage API on your device.
• Server Storage: Some information is synchronized with our servers to enable card recommendations and reward tracking, including:
• User ID (randomly generated UUID)
• Card information (bank name, card type, card name, last four digits if provided)
• Transaction details (merchant, amount, category, date, context)
• Card priority settings

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit using HTTPS.
• JWT (JSON Web Token) for secure authentication.
• Regular security audits and updates.
• Limited access to user data by our team members.

5. Data Processing and AI Services

To provide accurate recommendations and merchant categorization, we utilize the following AI-powered services:

• Perplexity API: Used for merchant categorization and extracting card offers from e-commerce websites.
• Anthropic Claude: Used to generate explanations for recommendations and process card offer data.

When we use these services:

• We share only the necessary data (like merchant names) required to generate accurate categorization.
• We implement caching to minimize API calls for frequently accessed merchants.
• We do not share personally identifiable information with these services.
• We process and sanitize responses before storing them in our database.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your information with third parties in the following circumstances:

• With service providers who assist us in operating our extension and website, including AI services for merchant categorization as described above.
• To comply with legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests from government authorities.

10. E-commerce Site Integration

Perks Cards integrates with supported e-commerce sites to provide card recommendations during checkout. This integration:

• Only activates on websites listed in our permissions (currently Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, and BigBasket).
• Collects limited checkout data (merchant name, purchase amount, and category) to calculate optimal card recommendations.
• Does not interfere with or modify the checkout process of these websites.
• Does not capture your login credentials or payment details entered on these sites.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons.
