How to find credit card reward leaks in your statement

A statement is a record of guesses. The same merchant on the wrong card, an excluded biller on a rewards card, and a cap that filled on day six all show up there. Read it for leaks, not for shame.

Group by merchant, not by date

Scan for Amazon, Swiggy, groceries, and fuel. If the same store hit three different cards, you did not have a plan. If fuel and rent sat on a high-fee rewards card, that is a leak even when the rest of the month looks fine.

Look for a burst of online spend on one card in the first week. That often means a cap was burned early and later orders earned the base rate.

Import without sending the PDF

If you use Perks statement import on Android, the PDF stays on the device. Only redacted spend lines are sent. That is enough to see the leak. We do not take a bank login. Web import comes next.

Use the next month to assign those merchants on purpose. Checkout picks exist so you do not repeat the same statement.

  • Same merchant, many cards: pick one on purpose next month.
  • Excluded billers on a rewards card: move them off.
  • Cap burned early: spread large carts or switch cards.

How Perks helps after a statement

Import is optional. Free checkout picks are the habit that makes the next statement cleaner. Premium is for aiming the month at a goal after invite.

Common questions

How do I see if I used the wrong credit card?
Read last month by merchant. Repeated stores on a low-earn or excluded path are the leak.
Will Perks upload my statement PDF?
No. Import keeps the PDF on the device and sends spend lines only.
What should I do after I find a leak?
Assign that merchant to a card for the next month and use checkout picks so the habit sticks.
